“Black Resilience – Innovation in the Midst of Resistance”

Evonik is celebrating Black History Month with a focus on science and art. The Employee Resource Group #BUILD commissioned a painting to feature Black science pioneers, including Evonik’s senior R&D scientist Darryl Love. Created by New Orleans-based artist Kenneth Scott, Jr., the painting “Black Resilience – Innovation in the Midst of Resistance” pays tribute to trailblazers like Marie Maynard Daly, the first African-American woman to gain a Ph.D. in chemistry. Love is portrayed next to legends like Percy Julian and George Washington Carver who inspired him to pursue chemistry.
