Super Blood Wolf Moon Serenade

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, "Native Americans called the full moon the "Wolf Moon" because it appeared when wolves howled in hunger outside the villages". The almanac said "ancient peoples commonly tracked the seasons by following the lunar calendar". During a total lunar eclipse, the Earth blocks the light from the sun, giving the moon's surface a red glow, which many refer to as a Blood Moon".

The image displays an artwork featuring three wolves on a rocky outcrop against a night sky. A large blood-red full wolf moon illuminates the scene from above. The wolf in the foreground, presumably the mother, stands tall and howls upward toward the moon, mouth wide open, revealing its teeth. Two younger wolves, possibly pups, join in the spine-tingling howl, their heads also raised skyward, echoing the pose of their mother. The deep blue of the night sky provides a rich contrast to the rusty tones of the moon and the muted, earthy colors of the wolves' fur. Their fur is detailed, showing various shades of brown and grey. The overall atmosphere evokes a sense of wilderness and the primal connection between these creatures and the natural world.

The original oil painting is 40"H x 30"W x 1.5"D on gallery wrap canvas.
