Applegate Valley C/Artography

This was fun! I mashed up a real topographical map of the Applegate Valley and adhered it to the surface of a rather large canvas. Then, out of the crevices and lumps formed by the paper, I invented false mountain ranges and valleys with paint. (If you look closely you might be able to see a little of the original map and print peeking out beneath the color.) The "river" is an imaginary recreation of the course the Applegate River takes as it flows into the mighty Rogue River (the first Wild and Scenic River in the U.S.A.) So, it's kind of an imagined-map of a real map that has become a non-map due to my machinations. A low-hanging moon/sun observes it all.
