Visit to Cottonwood Lane

The darkened mystery beyond the cobalt door invites me forward. Pausing, I consider my choices. Wandering through the wooden gate should take me behind the building to enjoy the cottonwood's cool shade. So should the passageway behind the blue portal. . . or will it? Might it provide entry to another space - one where a solitary aerialist soars instead and the tree is nowhere to be found?

Inspired by New Mexico favorites, this painting merges the beautiful gate (Santa Fe), the blue door and its adobe building (Albuquerque), majestic cottonwood tree (Los Lunas), and my own local ravens (San Bruno Mountain, California) into a scene that you will never find by Googling the address.
