Q. There seems to be more detail in this painting than in your earlier works. Is it simply the subject matter that dictated that?
A. I think it is the opulence of Cinderella's Castle and the depiction of the artist, Peter Paul Rubens, as a noble, chivalrous gentleman seated with his wife in a bower that prompted me to add more detail in this painting than I had in most earlier works. At first I was troubled by a lack of unity between the two pairings but when I added elements of blue sky in the upper right and green grass in the lower right, the painting came alive.
