Artist's Insights:
Q. You give the viewer the name of the alphabet typeface. This seems unusual.
A. Our eldest daughter went to design school and when asked after a few weeks of classes which course she liked best, she answered, "I like type so much I could taste it!" A daughter after my own heart, I thought. I've been in love with type all my life so it was only natural to feature it in a painting. After choosing Botticelli's "Venus", I narrowed the typeface choice to Alex Brush. "Alphabet" has to be my most lyrical painting.
