Natalie: Shelter From The Storm by Kathi Dugan

A small fairy huddles under a red mushroom, resignedly seeking shelter from a sudden and torrential downpour. Behind her a tree gleefully laps the rain with his tongue. A contented frog enjoys the day.
Story behind the Painting: A hairdresser was attending to a bride and her bridesmaids in an charming but old hotel in the Washington DC area. The hairdryer, essential utensil as it was, would not stay plugged into the wall. It kept pulling out from the ancient sockets. Natalie was soon assigned the wretched task of manually holding the plug in place, for 20 minutes or so at a time. A quick photo of the patiently enduring Natalie inspired the immediate conception of this image.
Model: Natalie Hessler.
Acrylic on Gesso Board.
