A view of Assisi, it's beautiful Basilica and the lush Italian landscape is framed through an imaginary kitchen window in this delightful painting by Kathi Dugan.
After a wonderful trip to Italy, the artist's elderly aunt continually expressed a desire to go back. Knowing that a return was fast becoming an impossibility, the artist painted "Aunt Mary's Italian Kitchen Window", as her 90th year birthday gift for her aunt. The artist hoped her Aunt would be transported back to Italy, if only for a moment, in her mind. The artist included a touch of orange to add some color and spark to the complimentary beige of her aunt's bedroom. Her aunt was, needless to say, thrilled with the painting. Just before it was permanently installed above Aunt Mary's bed the painting won a display spot in the highly competitive Plymouth Guild's Annual Juried Festival of the Arts.
Do you have a favorite vacation scene you would like memorialized in a painting? Kathi Dugan accepts commissions and would be happy to work with you. Please feel free to contact the artist.
