You Tell The Story by Kathi Dugan

Beneath a seemingly peaceful scene there lurks an element of danger.
A young girl lingers in an enchanted woodland. She is entranced by it's beauty and unaware of the perils to her safety lurking nearby. A serpent glides closely near, from under his lily pad covering; a tiger prowls not far behind; and strange, distorted faces peer out from the rocky hills and trees. A unicorn, some rabbits and a small winged fairy appear to be of a more friendly and helpful nature. The story, placed within this fantasy setting, is left up to the viewer's imagination. The observer must tell the story here.
The Story behind the painting:
The inspiration for the painting came from multiple sources. The inspiration for the setting and the reference for the lion was from Tampa Zoo, Florida; the unicorn was actually an old farm work horse in N.H.; the serpent was a concrete ornament at "Clarke's Trading Post", also in N.H.; the little fairy in white was my niece; the rabbits had been photoed at Marshfield Fair, Ma.. The child in the foreground is one of my favorite models, my granddaughter Jenna. You will notice that her pose is from the same photo, as was used in "Hidden Treasures".
Models: Annie Michel (fairy); Jenna A O'Connor
