Oil and Acrylic on Panel

Whether it is instinctual or learned, our perception of danger is a sensorial experience that is heavily informed by visual cues. For instance, the hummingbird is lauded as an incredibly beautiful and delicate creature. I wanted to imbue such a being with malice and cast it in a shroud of dread. The victims here look on in horror as they wait to see if they are spared or made their predator’s next meal. The idea that the world is never as black and white as we would like also comes into play; shades of gray are determined by our perspective.
