Her Place Among The Trees

We all need a place where we can gather our thoughts, be ourselves, and heal. For me that place is in nature among the trees. Inspired by Mary Oliver’s poem, “Among the Trees” it is this line that I understand most: “I would almost say that they save me, and daily.” For this artwork, I used texture, mark-making, and collage elements as visual and emotional triggers, both building and subtracting layers until the image and pattern emerged.
