Pink Dinner Plate Dahlia

Dinner Plate Dahlia
Flowing petals of pink and white burst from this large Dinner Plate Dahlia watercolor, painted on high-quality Arches watercolor paper. In reality, this stunning bloom measured over 14 inches in diameter and brought pure joy sitting on my counter.

Fun Dahlia Facts:

Dahlias symbolize devotion, love, beauty, inner strength, creativity, elegance, and dignity.

Their colors range almost infinitely—from creamy whites and palest pinks to (almost) black, and everything in between.

Dahlia sizes vary dramatically, from petite 2-inch lollipop-style pompoms to giant 15-inch “dinner plates.” Most varieties grow 4 to 5 feet tall.

My affection for dahlias is a recent but deep passion. The depth of each petal, the vast color and size variations, and the many petal shapes have completely captivated me. I’ve sought these beautiful flowers everywhere—from Farmer’s Markets and florists to the Dahlia gardens themselves.

This bloom was photographed by me before being lovingly painted. To experience dahlias in their garden home, visit Cher’s Garden in Madison, Wisconsin.
